Donna Grindle
Founder & CEO, Kardon
Donna's work in healthcare began decades ago. After starting in healthcare as a developer writing electronic claims software she founded Kardon in 1999 doing consulting, systems integration and managed services for SMBs with a focus in healthcare.
Since 2012, Kardon's focus has been on building and managing the privacy and security programs required in today's constantly changing threat landscape.
As the developer of the Kardon training programs, a frequent speaker at conferences and co-host of the weekly Help Me With HIPAA podcast since 2015 Donna is known for her unique approach for sharing the importance and value of privacy and security programs.
Donna is a Co-Lead of the Ambassador program and active member of the HHS 405(d) Task Group representing the voice of small and medium organizations. In various roles she helps educate, create guidance and tools to improve the cybersecurity posture of the industry particularly those SMBs she has spent her career supporting.
David Sims
Founder & CEO, HIPAA For MSPs
David has been in the IT/MSP world since 1998. In 2012, David focused his IT firm on small healthcare practices and dove headfirst into the HIPAA-sphere.
In 2014, David launched HIPAA For MSPs to train other MSPs to properly apply HIPAA in their business and with their clients.
David co-hosts a weekly podcast with Donna Grindle called Help Me With HIPAA, which is the longest running podcast on HIPAA privacy and security (6+ years). He is also on the board of directors for the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance.
As an ambassador and active member of the HHS 405(d) Task Group, David is helping to create and maintain healthcare industry cybersecurity practices published by HHS.
Karla Kreitner
Privacy & Security Advisor, Kardon
Working with clients managing the privacy and security programs is Karla's passion. After extensive experience supporting clients using practice management solutions for decades she understands the challenges Kardon's clients face.
Karla has held roles such as Southeast Regional Manager for a large practice management software firm. Training and creating programs to meet client needs has been a part of every role she held in the healthcare industry in her career.
She developed the Kardon coaching program to assist organizations maintain their risk management programs and deal with the day-to-day challenges they face. Karla is the detail person that makes sure Kardon remains focused on the needs of the SMBs we work with every day.
Alison Fuller
Investigator, Office for Civil Rights (OCR)
Alison Fuller is an Investigator with the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights (OCR). She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2013 and has been an Investigator with OCR since May 2016.
Alison regularly conducts compliance reviews, breach investigations and complaint investigations (HIPAA and Civil Rights). The majority of Alison’s breach investigation work centers around Security Rule breaches, including but not limited to, ransomware, phishing and hacking incidents.
Alison’s main focus is bringing the industry into compliance with the HIPAA Rules voluntarily through outreach and the provision of technical assistance, but also participates in the imposition of civil monetary penalties when appropriate.
